1. Niraj Bajaj named as Chairman of Bajaj Auto

  • Niraj Bajaj has been appointed as the new Chairman of Bajaj Auto with effect from May 1, 2021.
  • He will replace Rahul Bajaj, who had taken charge of the Bajaj group in 1965.
  • Rahul Bajaj will now serve as the Chairman Emeritus of Bajaj Auto.
  • Niraj Bajaj is also on the Board of Bajaj Allianz Life and General Insurance Co Ltd, Bachhraj & Company, Jamnalal Sons and various other Bajaj Group companies.

2. RBI joins Network for Greening the Financial System as member

  • RBI has joined group of Central Banks and Supervisors ‘Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS)’ as a Member.
  • NGFS: Network of central banks and financial supervisors that are willing to share best practices and contribute to environment, climate risk management, mobilizing mainstream finance
  • NGFS was launched at Paris One Planet Summit on December 12, 2017.
  • NGFS HQs: Paris, France
  • Head: Frank Elderson (Dutch)
  • NGFS consists of 90 members and 13 observers.

3. TRIFED inks MoU with ‘The LINK Fund’ for tribal development

  • Tribal Co-operative Marketing Federation of India (TRIFED) has signed MoU with The LINK Fund for a collaborative project titled ‘Sustainable Livelihoods For Tribal Households in India’
  • The MoU will facilitate:
    • Tribal Development and Employment Generation
    • Sustainable livelihoods and value addition, produce and crafts diversification, skill training 
  • The LINK Fund is a Geneva, Switzerland based philanthropic operational foundation.

4. Telangana get Drone usage permit for vaccine delivery

  • Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have granted conditional exemption for drone deployment to Govt of Telangana
  • It has been granted for conducting experimental delivery of Covid vaccines within Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) Range using drones.
  • The permission exemption is valid for 1 year or until further orders.
  • Similar permission was granted to ICMR for COVID vaccine delivery using drones in collaboration with IIT Kanpur

5. Indian Navy launches Operation Samudra Setu-II

  • Indian Navy has launched Operation Samudra Setu-II to augment ongoing national mission for fulfilling Oxygen requirements
  • Samudra Setu-II deployed Naval warships will undertake shipment of liquid Oxygen filled cryogenic containers and associated medical equipment
  • INS Kolkata and INS Talwar have entered  Manama, Bahrain port for embarking and transporting 40MT of liquid oxygen to Mumbai
  • Indian Navy had launched Operation Samudra Setu in 2020

6. Govt to provide Rs 15,000 crore to states for capital expenditure

  • Ministry of Finance has decided to provide an additional amount of up to Rs. 15,000 crores to States as interest free 50-year loan for spending on capital projects
  • In this respect, Dept of Expenditure has issued fresh guidelines on the scheme titled as ‘Scheme of Financial Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure’ for 2021-22
